Sales Account Manager – Japanese Accounts Product Manager

Sales Account Manager – Japanese Accounts
Reports to: National Sales Manager
Position: This position is responsible for the sale of the Misumi’s Factory Automation products to assigned Japanese target accounts in a specified territory. This position sells Misumi’s products using technical, organizational, and customer knowledge to influence customers and assist them in applying the products to their needs resulting in increased sales volume and revenue generation. Insures high post-sales satisfaction facilitating positive relationships
Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for setting account plans on an annual, quarterly, and/or monthly basis.
  • Evaluates and implements appropriate new sales techniques to increase the assigned customer’s sales volume.
  • Recommends product or service enhancements to improve customer satisfaction and sales potential.
  • Calls on company representatives such as design engineers, mechanical engineers, buyers or other professional and technical personnel. There will be very little cold calling.
  • Improves the communication between the customer’s Japanese and American personnel to help them maximize the understanding of Misumi’s products and services.
  • Overnight travel will be approximately 60% of the time.
  • Makes PowerPoint presentations to prospective customers communicating a complete understanding of the products available from Misumi, and the Misumi business model.
  • Ensures each customer fully understands how use the catalog, order parts and how to use our downloadable CAD data.
  • Reports to the National Sales Manager on a weekly basis by submitting call reports that detail the names of companies and individuals in the company called on and the results of the meetings.
  • Reports to the National Sales Manager on a weekly basis highs and lows for the week.
  • Forecasts the types of assembly components being considered for purchase and the estimated dollar volume.
  • When requested, assists the accounting department with large outstanding accounts receivable issues in their territory.
  • Interacts with defined customers and recommends products to be included in the Misumi product line that will help the company grow the factory automation business unit.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be required from time to time.
Competency Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering, or related area is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English required.
  • Minimum 3 years of industrial sales experience. Experience in selling mechanical components in automation/assembly equipment is preferred.
  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal and conflict management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows & Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient in GoldMine or other CRMS software.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment.

Product Manager
Reports to: FA - Senior Manager
Position: Direct and coordinate activities associated with the development of components per customer requirements and standard items. Provide engineering support to manufacturing operations, optimize process and ensure the quality of products.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Direct, manage and supervise the engineering department and set work priorities
  • When developing new components train staff to work with suppliers on manufacturing requirements, packaging, pricing, delivery and workflow.
  • Work on new catalog projects containing creation of catalog pages, design of the components, technical specifications, pricing table, dimensional tables and extensive proofreading.
  • Help plan and direct design activities, establish priorities and ensure the development is done according to ISO procedures.
  • When in new development stage, work with customers on establishing the required specifications for new components and standardize if necessary.
  • Periodically organize special monitoring groups that will help with components specifications, prepare and conduct monitoring meetings.
  • Ensure compliance to quality and train staff to work with the customer service on quality claims.
  • Respond to product quality issues and questions from customers
  • Coordinate activities with other departments for optimum communication and utilization of resources
  • Help with maintaining and development of company website.
  • Initiate, lead and implement process improvement activities.
  • Provide technical support to the Sales personnel with customer support.
  • Coordinate and manage own team matter
  • Whenever required, help upper management with special assignments I.E. Product research, customer research, market research, presentation information, inspection etc.
Competency Requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 year’s of Engineering Application experience.
  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal and conflict management skills.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Knowledge of 3D and 2D CAD programs.
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook
Working hours: 9am – 6pm, Monday thru Friday
