There’s a buzz going around both virtually and in person at MISUMI headquarters, warehouses, and manufacturing facilities across the nation. Our fearless leader and President, Nobuyuki Ashida, has won not 1 but 2 Comparably awards in less than a year.
In 2020, Mr. Ashida won for Best CEO and this past July 2021, he won for Best CEO for Diversity. Both for small and midsized companies. The awards are derived from over 60,000 companies and 10 million ratings.
Mr. Ashida humbly responded, “This award reflects the voice of our employees. Our people drive our business, and we are committed to offering the best and most diverse working environment. As our team continues to grow, we continue to put our employees first by fostering a workplace that is not only connected but also inclusive.”
Mr. Ashida’s right-hand man, Randy Yu VP of Human Resources adds, “Comparably Awards recognize the most outstanding companies and leaders of the year according to those who know best and whose views are most meaningful. MISUMI is again greatly honored that our greatest resource, our employees, have put us on this list and we look forward to continuing our company and individual success.”
MISUMI is dedicated to the satisfaction of its customers while also working behind the scenes to innovate, grow, and expand the business. The MISUMI Quality, Cost, and Time model not only applies to our components but also to the entrepreneurial spirit of its employees, encouraging and fostering career paths and new ideas. Teamwork makes the dream work.
A huge congratulations to Mr. Ashida from all of the employees at MISUMI!
We’re beyond proud of you.

What is Comparably?
Comparably is a workplace culture and compensation monitoring site with a mission to provide more transparent and rewarding workplaces. Employees can access salary data and rate their companies, CEOs, and work experiences through the lens of specific demographics including gender, ethnicity, age, tenure, industry, location, and education. With 10 million ratings from employees at over 60,000 U.S. companies, Comparably has become one of the most used SaaS solutions for employer branding and trusted third-party sites for salary and workplace culture data. For more information on Comparably, go to www.comparably.com.
What was the methodology?
- Comparably’s Best CEOs for Diversity is derived from ratings solely provided by employees of color (non-Caucasian) who anonymously rated their CEOs on Comparably.com over 12 months (June 23, 2020, through June 23, 2021). The final data set was compiled from 10 million ratings across 60,000 U.S. companies large and small.
- Rankings were determined by the most positive sentiment ratings from employees of color (non-Caucasian) about the CEO’s effectiveness and management style. Additional weight was given to companies with more participation from their employee base, relative to their company size, for statistical significance.
- To qualify, Large companies (more than 500 employees) must have met a minimum of 75 employee participants and Small/Mid-Size companies (500 or fewer employees) must have met a minimum of 25 employee participants.
- There were no fees or costs associated with participating, nor was nomination required.
