Most people know MISUMI for our Linear Shafts<\/a>, Aluminum Extrusions<\/a> and configurable business model. However, if you are a rookie engineer and new to the factory automation industry you may have first heard of MISUMI through our University Program<\/a>. Through the MISUMI University Program (MUP)<\/strong> we have partnered with over 70 universities in the US and Canada during both the 2012-2013 and the 2013-2014 academic year to provide valuable resources and support for Senior Engineering students. Participants in MUP receive discounts on all MISUMI components, engineering and design support, as well as opportunities for sponsorship for their Senior Design Projects, SAE and ASME competition designs, among others perks.<\/p>\n

On Monday morning we were pleasantly surprised to receive an email update from some of our program participants with some cool pictures showing their newest SAE Race Car. They were nice enough to share some amazing images and video footage which showcased the MISUMI logo on their race car that was made with MISUMI parts! How awesome is that! This year several MUP partners participated in competitions such as the SAE Formula (Racing) Series<\/a>, SAE Baja (Off Road Vehicles), and other student design competitions!<\/p>\n

FIT’s Formula SAE Motorsports Club allows students to design, fabricate, test, and race a formula style car in SAE’s collegiate series.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Besides race cars and lunar landers, students are taking on challenges such as designing comfortable, more affordable prosthesis for children, or ways to purify water quickly and safely from factory waste. Jacob Oji, Program Facilitator for the 2013-2014 Academic Year says, \u201cI was always so impressed when I went out to visit the college campuses for the program. These kids are creating things to help society and they find passion in helping others. That always stuck out in my mind.\u201d<\/p>\n

MISUMI is incredibly impressed and honored to see not only the determination these students have for the projects they have undertaken but we’re also proud to be a part of preparing the next generation of engineers for today\u2019s challenges and tomorrows successes.<\/p>\n
