MANUFACTURERS IMPROVE PROCESS EFFICIENCY
SING MISUMI STANDARD
PRECISION POSITIONING STAGES
Wide
range of positioning stage styles and sizes enable greater accuracy, speed and
throughput
in production, testing and assembly applications.

August 12, 2011 (Schaumburg, IL) ― MISUMI USA, Inc., a subsidiary of MISUMI Corporation, part of MISUMI Group, Inc. (Tokyo: 9962), reports that electronic product manufacturers - which constitute one of the firm's largest and important customer segments - have found a wide range of applications for MISUMI's low-cost Standard Precision Positioning Stages.
The Standard Precision Positioning Stages combine streamlined functionality with precision levels acceptable for a great many automation-related applications - at prices 20 to 50 percent lower than typical high precision positioning devices. They offer an effective and practical solution wherever there is a need to make small positioning adjustments in the assembly, inspection and processing instruments and jigs used in the production of consumer and industrial electronics.
Properly installed, the stages allow fine adjustments in 0.01 mm increments. These adjustments can be performed quickly and easily, even by non-technical personnel, resulting in higher productivity and faster throughput with fewer errors - whatever the application or process. For example, here is a representative sampling of MISUMI's Standard Precision Positioning Stage models and how they are being used in typical electronics manufacturing applications:
Examples of use:
Adjust positioning of circuit boards entering
thermal press fit unit; to adjust welding position product height sensors in
inspection unit to weed out defects; to change stopper position easily when
workpiece sizes and positions need to be changed in a conveying application.
Examples of use:
Adjust tolerances in part placement and
positioning, such as microsensors for press fit machining.
Examples of use:
Enable fine adjustment of contact points for
contact probes in circuit board continuity inspection unit; or to change board
positioning in circuit board screen printing press fit unit when the board
pattern is changed.
Examples of use:
Adjust work support plates and guide work pieces
for precise machine drilling of molded products.
Examples of use:
Optimally position work pieces on labeling machine
conveyor belt in a packaging/shipping application.
Examples of use:
Optimize reading position of adhesive-applied QR
bar codes on circuit boards to improve readability and traceability; to adjust
compression force of a round belt used on testing jig used to turn workpieces
properly.
Examples of use:
Used with sensor in semiconductor production
to detect and control movement of ceramic green sheet and enable quick
adjustment to a change in the sheet width; to adjust the pitch between the
contact points on a contact probe conduction inspection device.
A majority of MISUMI's Standard Precision Positioning Stages ship in just three (3) days. The stages are designed and engineered to provide adequate levels of precision relative to straightness, parallelism, and parallelism of motion, making them a cost-effective choice over more costly and sophisticated High Precision Positioning Stages.
These stages will be featured at this year's Design & Manufacturing Midwest show, September 20-22, in Chicago. Machine building OEMs and automation system design engineers can learn more about these new products at MISUMI Booth Number 2108.
