Summer Fun DIY Project

Maybe we’re biased, but we believe that MISUMI has the BEST community of DIYers in the industry! Our recent Build. Brag. Win. Contest for the Do-It-Yourselfers was a great hit! We received almost 30 submissions from communities such as www.Fabric8r.com , www.Reddit.com , www.Reprap.org, www.Shapeoko.com and a few Google+ groups. While most of the submissions showed how our Aluminum Extrusions were used for making 3D printers & CNC machines, there were a few surprise submissions as well! For example, a Full Spectrum Laser Cutter using Misumi Linear Slide Guides, a Cryptocurrency machine using clear anodized MISUMI Aluminum Extrusions, and our contest winner, the Electric Go Kart!

Ben2
Ben – Electric Go Kart using MISUMI parts

Ben, our contest winner, used our Aluminum Extrusions, Shaft Collars and other MISUMI Parts to create his Electric Go Kart. Ben was able to get the go kartup to 22mph with sustained 15-16 mph speeds! Ben commented that, “With Misumi’s extrusion I found the perfect combination of size, strength and weight that allowed me to design the go kart with modular spacing meaning that I could easily move the position of the steering wheel without disabling the rest of the go kart.”

We were so impressed with the ingenuity and cleverness of his design we asked Ben if we could share his design as a DIY Project! If you’re looking for an easy, fun summer project click here to view and download the bill of materials and don’t forget to visit www.builtbyben.net. And of course, if you make your own go kart or other DIY project with MISUMI parts, send it to us at misumimarketing@misumiusa.com!

Happy DIYing!
