- What enables MISUMI to offer short lead time and low price?
- Suruga Seiki Co. Ltd., one of MISUMI group companies, manufactures, assembles and inspects LX units.
With this and our newly developed lead time management system, we are able to offer short lead times and low price for this product. - What are single axis actuators used for?
- They are often used in applications where high speed and high precision are required.
This can be achieved thru LX structure that consists of precision (ground) ball screws and high rigid steel body/rail. We offer different leads with our ball screws to match different application requirements. Also price for LX unit compared to internally build linear motion mechanism is really competitive. - Can actuators be used without lubrication?
- No, they need to be lubricated. If they are not properly greased, they will deteriorate and lose precision.
They can be used without lubrication only when they are not used frequently and are used in controlled environment.
Recommended lubrication period is every 6 months (every 3 months for long travel distance) or every 1000km.However, the environment and operating conditions should be taken into consideration when deciding maintenance intervals. - What is the recommended grease for LX unit?
- For LX20 ・･ LX26 ・･ LX30 Series, Alvania Grease S No.2 (Showa Shell).
For LX45 Series, Cartridge Grease EP2 (Showa Shell).
Low Dust Raise Grease is LG2 (NSK Ltd).
Grease from different manufacturers can be used as long as the thickener and base oil are the same type. However, before using different grease, confirm grease specifications with grease manufacturer. - Can I use the actuator as a Fine Adjustment Stage?
- Yes, but if the stroke of LX unit is 2mm or less, oil film formation will be impeded, fretting will occur, and track surface may peel.
To avoid this, dummy motion should be added once in a few cycles. - Is it possible to use motors that are not listed in application table?
- MISUMI offers attachment/mounting plates for motors listed in application table.
Other motors can be used only if the size of the motor is the same as those listed in the table. - I would like to disassemble the LX actuator to add more parts.. Is this something you would recommend?
- No, do not disassemble LX units, because precision inspection is conducted after the unit is assembled.
Precision cannot be guaranteed if unit is disassembled. - Is it possible to use actuators in the vertical position?
- Yes, but please note that due to ball screw desing, nut moves easily even with minimum load.
Unlike lead screws, the ballscrew uses rolling elements.
Please, use a brake mechanism when using LX unit in vertical position. - Can actuator be used to create multi-axis stage?
- Yes, MISUMI even offers brackets to connect actuators together.
- Is it difficult to calculate moment and load?
- No, our online calculation software can help with load and life span calculation.
Just enter the operating conditions such as speed and weight-load, and it will automatically calculate the life span.
Calculation is also possible with eccentric load.
